VoiceApp is an audio-first messenger for iOS and Android — plus desktop clients for Windows, macOS and Linux and a web client. It combines classic text messaging with voice messages and VooMe, a built-in social audio feed where you create, discover, like and share short audio posts. You can chat privately with friends, join public groups and browse public profiles through Discover — all in one app, without switching between a messenger and a separate social network.

Yes. Messaging, voice messages and VooMe are free. The app is funded through advertising (Google AdMob) and optional subscriptions: a subscription removes the ads, supports ongoing development and unlocks premium features — but you never need one for the core experience.

VoiceApp is available worldwide on the App Store and Google Play. The app and this website are currently available in English and German.

Install VoiceApp from the App Store or Google Play (a direct APK download is also available on this website), open the app and follow the short onboarding to create your account. After that you can start a chat, record your first voice message or publish your first VooMe right away.

VooMe is short for Voice Meme — a short audio post with its own title and cover image. Think of it as a meme made of sound: a joke, a thought, a quote, a soundbite or a tiny story told in your own voice. Read the full VooMe guide for details.

Open the VooMe section in VoiceApp and tap record. You record your audio post, give it a title, pick a cover image and decide whether to publish it publicly or share it privately in a chat. Instead of recording, you can also import existing audio — see the next question.

Yes. VoiceApp pulls the audio track out of video and audio files on your device and turns it into a VooMe — including a TikTok, YouTube Short or Instagram Reel you have saved. Share a video straight to VoiceApp and the app walks you through the steps. It's meant for your own content: reusing sounds that belong to you.

You do need to hold the rights to whatever you import. Someone else's videos, music or film clips may not be published without permission — by publishing, you confirm that you hold the necessary copyrights, licences or permissions. The details are in the terms of use.

You decide — and the two routes work in fundamentally different ways.

Public: Publish a VooMe to the feed and it lives on the server so others can discover, play and share it. You can delete it from the app at any time; the audio and cover are then removed from the server.

Private: VooMes you don't publish collect in the “My” tab and stay local on your device — they are never uploaded to the server at all. Send one into a chat or group and it still never appears in any public feed: like any other media file it only passes through the server for delivery and is deleted there afterwards. It lives in the chats on the participants' devices, not on the server.

Yes. The VooMe picker lets you select and send VooMes directly from a chat, just like photos or videos. Your friends can listen, react and share without leaving the conversation.

You speak your message — and it's sent. No glance at the screen, no tapping send: unlike the dictation button on your keyboard, which only drops text into the input field, VoiceApp sends it out for you. On Android the app also reads incoming messages aloud, so a whole conversation runs without hands and without looking. On top of that comes VooMe, the public audio feed. Yes. Besides private group chats you can join public groups from the Discover section — communities around shared interests that anyone can join. When the last participant leaves a public group, it is automatically deleted from the server.

Chats support text, voice messages, images, videos, GIFs, documents, audio files and VooMes. You can share or delete messages and media directly from the context menu in a chat.

On iOS via the App Store, on Android via Google Play or as a direct APK download from this website, in the browser via the web client at web.voiceapp.me, and as a desktop app for macOS (Mac App Store), Windows and Linux.

Open the web client or desktop app and scan the QR code it shows with the VoiceApp app on your phone. Your chats then appear on the big screen — no separate password required.

Not permanently. The server keeps a message only for as long as delivery requires: if the recipient is offline, it stays there until their device picks it up. Once delivery is confirmed it is deleted automatically — at the latest seven days later, media files included. Messages that were never delivered disappear after 90 days. There is no conversation history on the server. VoiceApp is developed in Germany, its servers are located in Frankfurt am Main, and all transport is SSL encrypted. In the app under Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deleting your account removes it together with its associated data. Individual VooMes you have published can also be deleted at any time.

No — VoiceApp is rated for all ages in the app stores. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children; parents and guardians can reach me any time at privacy@voiceapp.me. You can find the details in the privacy policy.
